Webcor Builders Announce UCI Team for 2008

release by Webcor Builders

July 9, 2007 - Webcor Builders is proud to announce that it will return in 2008 as a UCI Elite Women’s Team. The team will complete at least one block of international racing overseas in 2008.

Andy Ball, President/CEO of Webcor stated, “Becoming a UCI Team and racing internationally was the logical next step for our women’s team. This year, more than any other, we have clearly demonstrated the depth of our squad and that the collective team is truly capable of competing as well as winning at the highest level. It was time.”

Webcor Builders is proud to be the longest running title sponsor of a North American women’s professional cycling team in existence today. It is equally proud to prioritize helping its riders to achieve their true potential.

Beginning with its support of the 400+ member strong amateur racing club, Alto Velo in 1999, Webcor Builders helped to send 1994 World Champion, Karen Brems to the 2000 Olympics. Karen then easily transitioned into the director role, and was instrumental in molding Christine Thorburn into an Olympian when the professional women’s team started in 2004.

One must not forget Webcor’s 2004 professional men’s squad which capped off a fantastic year by winning the San Francisco Grand Prix, beating the likes of USPS on their home turf. Fast forward to 2007, and the Webcor Builders Women’s Team is currently ranked #1 in the U.S. National Racing Calendar Team rankings, and holds three of the top five spots in the individual rankings.

Canada's Laura Yoisten currently rides for the Webcor Builders Women's team.
