July 30, 2008 (Bromont, Que.) - Mondial du Velo, the organizing committee of the second of Canada's two World Cup "triple" events, held a press conference yesterday in Bromont to welcome the world's top mountain bikers to Bromont, QC, as well as offer journalists the final opportunity to speak with Marie-Hélène Prémont (QC) Rocky Mountain before she heads to the Beijing Olympic Games.
On hand were head organizer Richard Deslandes, as well as Prémont, and fellow Quebec racers Mathieu Toulouse (QC) Maxxis, Francis Morin (QC) Specialized, and Marie-Claude Suprenant (QC). Deslandes, Prémont, and Toulouse each spoke about the weekend's upcoming World Cup, and how excited they were to welcome the world once again to Bromont. Ski Bromont has hosted several world class mountain biking events, with the last World Cup taking place nine years ago.
On behalf of the racers, Prémont and Toulouse encouraged spectators to come out and cheer on the athletes to show their support. Along with building a new XC course, organizers have invested $100,000 into the building of brand new DH and 4X courses. Check back for video interviews with both Prémont and Toulouse.
