September 30, 2008 (Ebikon, Switzerland) - The Cervélo TestTeam is pleased to announce the signing of Andreas Klier of Germany and Serge Pauwels of Belgium. Klier is an all-round cyclist in the sport. The thirty-two-year-old native Bavarian, now living in Belgium has won a total of 17 national titles in several cycling disciplines from the 500m track race to the traditional road race.
Klier started his professional cycling career in 1996 where he was under contract to Team Nürnberger. In 1999/2000, the multilingual athlete was racing for the TVM –Farm Frites Team before he moved in 2001 to the German T-Mobile Team. He has also ridden for Team Highroad and Team Columbia. To date, his successes include a victory in the Belgium semi-classic Gent-Wevelgem in 2003 and a stage victory in the 2007 Vuelta a España.
Serge Pauwel's career kicked off in 2004 in the youth team of the Netherlands ProTour Team Rabobank. He also rode for their Continental team in 2004 and 2005. Pauwels turned pro in 2006 with Chocolade Jacques-Topsport Vlaanderen with whom he also rode in 2007 and 2008. The twenty-four year-old athlete won the overall mountain ranking in the 2007 Tour Down Under and was second in the sixth stage of the 2006 Tour de l’Avenier in France.
In addition to cycling, Pauwels holds a bachelor's degree in Engineering and is working on his master's degree in Applied Economics. A graduate of the University of Antwerp he has always combined racing with studying.
