September 19, 2009 (Breinigsville, PA) - Canada's Mike Garrigan (La Bicicletta/ Jetpower) was 4th and Vicki Thomas (Ottawa Cross) was 9th at the Nittany Lion Cross UCI C2, round 1 of the Mid-Atlantic Cyclocross (MAC) series in Breinigsville, PA, presented by Gotham Cyclists-National Events Management Org. Laura Van Gilder (C3 Athletes Serving Athletes) and Davide Frattini (Team Fuji) were the winners.
In the men's race a group of 8 riders escaped early and during the third or fourth lap Davide Frattini (Team Fuji) attacked as he and Adam Myerson (Cyclesmart) got the jump on a group of 5-6 chasers. Canada's Mike Garrigan (La Bicicletta/ Jetpower) hovered behind and finally got back on as the chasers attempted to cloase the gap on the leaders. In the end, Frattini surged ahead on his own to solo in for the win as Garrigan settled for 4th behind Luke Keough (Corner Cycle) in third during the sprint finish for 2nd which Myerson won.
In the women's race Laura Van Gilder (T3 Solar) and Maureen Bruno-Roy (Independant) escaped early and dominated the field as the others raced for third with Van Gilder taking the win.
