November 26, 2009 - It's half way through November which means many of you are already starting to think about the upcoming race season. We wanted to let you know about some exciting new events coming up at the Pacific Cycling Centre that may help you prepare for the 2010 season whether you are a racer, coach, shop owner, or team manager:
Free Seminar Series Part of our mission as the former PacificSport Cycling Centre is to continue promoting athlete development in Canada. Houshang Amiri is one of a handful of coaches in Canada qualified to teach and certify level 3 coaches. Houshang is offering to share his knowledge with athletes of all levels through a series of free seminars in Western Canada and Washington. These seminars will be happening over the next few months. Some of the subjects he will cover are:
- Training with power - Training with a heart rate monitor - Effective interval training - Planning a season - Off season training - Get more out of your riding - Testing and evaluation
If you are interested in attending one of these seminars or even hosting one please contact us as admin@pacificcyclingcentre.ca. Right now, we are looking for local clubs, shops, and teams interested in hosting these events. The dates, venues, and topics of our seminars will be posted on our website here. Check back frequently to find out when and where the next seminar will be. They are open to any athlete or member of the cycling community who would like to attend and learn more about how to effectively plan their training.
Training Camps Looking for a solid week of training with some of Canada's top athletes? Want to see how you measure up and learn more about how to effectively train for the season? PCC is offering winter training camps throughout the base season in both Victoria and an altitude camp in Colorado. Check out our schedule here. These camps are open to both Masters, Elite, and Development athletes alike. All we're looking for is a good attitude and a willingness to train hard.
If you have questions or want to learn more about our camps and seminars, please feel free to contact us at admin@pacificcyclingcentre.ca any time. We hope to hear from you soon!
