December 3, 2009 - Rumours have been flying over the past few weeks that the 2010 UCI World Cup MTB Finals set for August 28-29 in Windham, NY were in danger of being scrapped due to lack of sponsorship funding. The U.S. hasn't hosted a World Cup round since 2005 in Angel Fire, New Mexico. Angel Fire was slated to host another round in 2007, but pulled out at the last minute at which point St-Felicien, Que. stepped in and put on a World Cup event in the small northern Quebec town.
None of the official Windham World Cup sources are letting on about any difficulties the 2010 event may be having, except for a few brief comments posted by fans on the event's Facebook page asking if the rumours are true. The most positive comment reads: "Still sketchy- all is not lost. There is a meeting tomorrow and if necessary one more in the future according to committee member. Make it happen!!!"
